Help/FAQ
When is a Building Permit required?
Per the 2023 Wabash County Zoning Ordinance, no structure, improvement, or use of land, may be altered, changed placed, erected, or location in Wabash County without first obtaining an Improvement Location Permit (commonly referred to as a building permit).

When you build or add any new structure or add square footage to any existing structure, including, but not limited to, a deck, porch, sunroom, utility shed, portable building, gazebo, CFO, CAFO, pole barn/building, pavilion, lean-to, grain bin, garage, carport, new home, pond, pool, home addition, etc.

See the permit fee schedule for work requiring a permit and the fees accordingly. The fee schedule is posted under the Zoning Ordinances section of the Area Plan Commission website.
